Just do it.

"Stop thinking about it and get out the art supplies," this is the memo I send myself on a regular basis.

Being a mom of three kids under the age of 8, it is easy to put myself last. The nap window use to be my time for rest because I was too exhausted to do anything else. Now that my youngest sleeps through the night, naps/quiet time are for art and I feel human again. Even if the house is dirty, or I only have 30 minutes, I give myself permission to take care of me. It may not happen every day but as long as I'm painting on a regular basis I feel a whole lot better.

The Wildfire

This was taken near my house five months after the wildfire. We were evacuated for 2 months and had significant smoke damage. Thank you to the firemen, we had a home to return to.

"Redwood Retreat" in pastel was completed as a tribute to our resilliant redwoods.

I have my masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a passion for environmental justice. Once we had kids we decided it was best for our family for me to stay home with them. The balance of career and parenting, stress, and personal time is a challenge for all parents. I tip my hat to all working parents with this piece and I thank my husband for working hard for our family.
