About Sarah Orre

Painting has become much more than a creative outlet for me—it's how I slow down, reconnect, and experience the world with greater intention.

Living in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Ben Lomond, California, I'm constantly inspired by the landscapes around me and the quiet beauty found in everyday moments: sunlight across the ocean, wildflowers dancing in the wind, or the glow of light on my daughters' faces. These fleeting moments become the foundation for my paintings.

My work is known for its bold, expressive use of color and energetic brushwork. I paint quickly and intuitively using brushes, palette knives, and texture tools, allowing each layer to build movement, light, and emotion. Whether I'm creating a richly textured oil painting or settling into a quiet afternoon with soft pastels arranged in a vintage dish, every piece begins with curiosity and play.

I often work from my own photographs, but my goal isn't simply to recreate a scene. Instead, I transform familiar landscapes into vibrant, dreamlike paintings that capture how a place feels rather than exactly how it looks.

I live with my husband and our three daughters, who inspire both my artwork and my belief that creativity enriches everyday life. Through my paintings, I hope to bring a sense of joy, peace, and wonder into the homes of others, inviting them to pause and see the beauty that surrounds us.
