"Stop thinking about it and get out the art supplies," this is the memo I send myself on a regular basis.
Even if the house is messy, or I only have 30 minutes, I give myself permission to take care of me. It may not happen every day but as long as I'm painting on a regular basis I feel a whole lot better.
My passion and goal as an art teacher is to help bring out the inner child, enjoy process over product, play, explore, and release the fear! With a little bit of technique and a whole lot of encouragement, I help people enjoy creating art.
Every step of the process is fun and beautiful. Although art can sometimes feel challenging, vulnerable or even scary, pushing through those feelings, letting go of perfectionism, letting go of the outcome, smiling, laughing…sometimes even laughing at ourselves is part of the process.
I practice building community through art in each of my classes. Bonding with other like-minded creative people is powerful.
Once you have an artist mindset you start noticing the beauty in the world...light through the trees, the shadow of a petal, the sun-kissed mountains.
The beauty of the world is waiting to be captured by your paintbrush.
My children remind me every day to nurture my inner child, enjoy process over product, play and have fun! No matter what age you are, it’s never too late to be an artist.
I encourage you to make art part of your life.

This was taken near my house five months after the wildfire. We were evacuated for 2 months and had significant smoke damage. Thank you to the firemen, we had a home to return to.
"Redwood Retreat" in pastel was completed as a tribute to our resilliant redwoods and was gifted to an amazing neighbor on the other side of the fence.

I have my masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a passion for environmental justice. Once we had kids we decided it was best for our family to be a home mom. The balance of career and parenting, stress, and personal time is a challenge for all parents.
I tip my hat to all working parents and I thank my husband for working full time for our family. Now that my youngest is 3, I am time teaching art classes part time during prechool hours and loving every moment.
