Travel Sketching

August 2024 Travel Sketch Class

Learn the beauty of the pilot pen, ink wash, and loose watercolor with local artist Sarah Orre. We will capture the essence of local landmarks using vibrant and expressive travel sketching techniques. Each week we will meet at a different location and will practice techniques at each site. Beginners welcome.

Schedule:

8/8: Quail Hallow Ranch: Quickly capture a landscape with a building, and oak trees.

8/15: Simpkins Swim Path: Mark making over watercolor. Building depth-create a majestic meadow and path.

8/22: River Walk from Highlands Park: Rocks, water, and waterfall sketch.

8/29: Natural Bridges: Sea scape sketch, bring your watercolors for a wet on wet painting.

Materials List:

Materials to bring: Pilot parallel pen and ink, clear water-basin travel brush, watercolors or watercolor pens, travel sketchbook with watercolor paper, blanket to sit on or small portable folding stool, hat and sunscreen.
